Welcome back to part 2 of our topic on how dental implants can be life changing in a good way. Last week, we talked about four ways dental implants can have a positive impact on your health and life, today we are going to discuss four more!
5. Dental implants keep natural teeth from shifting. Each tooth has its own place, and in order for everything to line up, those teeth must remain in their assigned places. When you are missing one or a few teeth, your other teeth can shift, which can cause your bite to be distorted. This can lead to a whole new world of issues and complications. Why even bother with the risk, with dental implants, your bite will remain as it should and your other teeth will all stay in their place.
6. A smile is worth a thousand words. By choosing dental implants, you can help improve your smile. When you have teeth that are unhealthy, it can really affect your self-image, especially if those teeth are in the front, where everyone can see when you smile or talk. You tend to hide your mouth and change the way you speak and smile in order to prevent others from seeing your unhealthy teeth. However, with dental implants, you do not have to hide anymore. You can show off those lovely teeth with confidence and be comfortable in knowing your smile even though it may not be 100% natural it looks like it is.
7. Dental implants do not dull sensations in the mouth. When you have dentures, you are basically covering your mouth with a fake piece of wax. You lose so much sensation and feeling you wouldn’t believe it. The roof of your mouth and your gums become completely covered leaving no room to experience sensations of hot or cold. When you choose dental implants, you have all the sensation in your mouth you did with natural teeth, because the dental implants are placed right where the missing tooth/teeth are, and they do not cover any other part of the mouth. Your dental implants will function like natural teeth, providing the jaw with the essential pressure from chewing and speaking that it needs to maintain bone density and good function.
8. Dental implants Vs. Dentures. Dental implants not only look better and more natural than dentures; they also perform better than dentures. Dentures can be difficult to eat with depending on how they fit and what foods you try to eat. I would be wary about trying to bite into an apple or eat a handful of peanuts, those nuts under the dentures is quite painful. Dental implants are much more comfortable and natural feeling, you won’t have to second guess eating that apple because your dental implants act like your natural teeth. No need to worry about soaking and brushing your dental implants like you do with dentures; you can simply brush your new teeth like you always have.
In the end, the choice is ultimately yours, but I hope these two articles were helpful in your decision on which dental procedure to have done. Should you need any more guidance ask your dental care professional what they think would be the best fit for you.
